The solution for me was to write off the Asus' internal HDMI port as a lost cause.

I also got one of these to use when my machine is on my desk, it will do UHD at 60Hz.Ībsolutely no drivers are needed. It will do 60Hz at quad HD, but only 30Hz at UHD. I got this for a few dollars, and will use it while travelling. I solved it by buying a very cheap USB-C dock from ebay. I have a nice, new Asus laptop and have had no end of trouble with the built-in HDMI.

I don't have a solution for you, short of using ctrl+alt+backspace to restart the desktop session, but I do have a suggestion. # Values: : integer, : float, : "True"/"False", Init: systemd runlevel: 5 Compilers: gcc: 7.4.0 Shell: bash v: 4.4.20Ĭode: Select all Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 3840 x 1080, maximum 16384 x 16384ĮDP-1 connected primary 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 344mm x 194mm System Temperatures: cpu: 65.8 C mobo: N/A gpu: nouveau temp: 37 C ID-1: /dev/nvme0n1 vendor: Western Digital Vendor: ASUSTeK driver: r8169 v: kernel port: e000 bus ID: 02:00.0ĭevice-2: Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11ac PCIe Wireless Network Adapter Sound Server: ALSA v: k5.3.1-050301-genericĭevice-1: Realtek RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet OpenGL: renderer: AMD RAVEN (DRM 3.33.0 5.3.1-050301-generic LLVM 9.0.0)ĭevice-1: NVIDIA vendor: ASUSTeK driver: snd_hda_intel v: kernelĭevice-2: AMD Family 17h HD Audio vendor: ASUSTeK driver: snd_hda_intelĭevice-3: C-Media type: USB driver: hid-generic,snd-usb-audio,usbhid Topology: Quad Core model: AMD Ryzen 5 3550H with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfxīits: 64 type: MT MCP arch: Zen rev: 1 L2 cache: 2048 KiBįlags: lm nx pae sse sse2 sse3 sse4_1 sse4_2 sse4a ssse3 svm UEFI: American Megatrends v: FX505DT.305 date: Mobo: ASUSTeK model: FX505DT v: 1.0 serial: Type: Laptop System: ASUSTeK product: TUF Gaming FX505DT_FX505DT v: 1.0 I have two other monitors connected to the PC.Host: Icerus-Laptop Kernel: 5.3.1-050301-generic x86_64 bits: 64Ĭompiler: gcc v: 9.2.1 Desktop: Cinnamon 4.4.8ĭistro: Linux Mint 19.3 Tricia base: Ubuntu 18.04 bionic The monitor is connected via display port, and is set as the primary monitor.

I am using Windows 10, with an Nvidia GTX 1060 6GB graphics card. Powering the monitor off and on again didn't help. Unplugging the monitor and plugging it in again did no't help.

I have tried holding the menu button to see if that would have any affect on it. When I started it up the monitor worked fine, so it definitely seems that windows shutting down triggers this.

I had a power cut a couple of days ago while the PC was on. If the PC is powered off without shutting down windows, it will startup fine.

It seems this only happens if the PC is shut down correctly. * Windows starts up in the background but I'm only shown a blank screen with a mouse cursor. The only way to fix this is to power off the PC and start it up again. * Then the grey dialog box about power saving mode shows up

* Shows bios screen (the one that tells you to hit Delete to enter setup etc.) When I shut down the PC, then start it up later, the following happens I have had a S2716DG for a couple of weeks now.
